Sun Safety Program
SCCR offers a presentation and display about the
dangers of Ultraviolet rays and sunburns in the development of
damage to the skin which may lead to skin cancer. Information about
how UV rays work and how to prevent skin damage from the sun is
given. A package of information and activities including word
search, bookmarks, a fortune teller, a drawing sheet, and a poem is
given to the children to reinforce the presented information. Beads
which change color in response to exposure to UV rays are also
provided for the kids to make into a bracelet.
This program has been presented at Farm Safety days,
children’s wellness days and in classrooms to children from age 4 to
Grade 6. Delivery of the program is adapted to the location and to
the age of the children.
A display with activity and information packages and
Uv sensitive beads is also available for health fairs or community
expos or events.
Please contact SCCR if you would like the
presentation or display brought to your town or school.
